Portland wellness retreat to get second location in Central Oregon

A Portland wellness retreat known for its underground thermal springs, lush conservatory, and wellness-focused design is expanding to Central Oregon.

Cascada Thermal Springs + Hotel will break ground later this month on a second location in Bend. The project will introduce the hotel’s wellness-focused concept to the city’s growing tourism market.

According to an invitation to the groundbreaking ceremony, the new property will feature 68-guest rooms and serve as a year-round wellness destination designed for both visitors and the local community.

The invitation describes the project as being inspired by Central Oregon’s landscape and built around biophilic architecture, sustainability, and long-term destination stewardship.

The Bend location is expected to open in 2028.

Why Has Cascada Drawn So Much Attention?

Cascada opened in Northeast Portland’s Alberta District as one of the city’s most distinctive hotel projects, combining luxury accommodations with an expansive thermal spa beneath the building.

Another of the property’s features includes a glass conservatory filled with tropical plants that create an indoor oasis designed around wellness and environmental sustainability.

Visitors can also enjoy two restaurants, a coffee shop, a year-round outdoor hot tub and pool, and a subterranean spa that features soaking pools, a cold plunge, sauna, steam room, waterfall, and ice fountain.

The Portland hotel was built by SolTerra in collaboration with LEVER Architecture.

What can people expect from Cascada’s Bend location?

While Cascada has confirmed the Bend property will offer 68 hotel rooms, additional amenities have not yet been announced.

The company has not said whether the new location will include thermal pools, restaurants, or spa facilities similar to those found in Portland.

Cascada’s Bend location is being designed by HACKER, the architecture firm behind several notable Central Oregon projects, including Arête condos, the High Desert Museum, and multiple developments at Black Butte Ranch.

More details are expected as construction begins later this month.
