Three Oregon Ice Cream Shops ranked on Yelp’s top 100 list

Three Oregon ice cream shops were named the best of 2025 on Yelp’s Top 100 list.

Two Portland shops and one Bend ice cream shop were ranked based on their handcrafted flavors, local ingredients, and community-driven charm.

To create the list, Yelp analyzed customer reviews from ice cream shops across the country, highlighting those with the highest ratings and positive feedback.

Oregon’s three winners showcase what locals already know — the state’s love for handcrafted, creative ice cream runs deep.

#29 Bonta Gelato

Bonta Gelato, founded in 2015 by Jeff and Juli Labhart, ranked No. 29 on Yelp’s list.

The couple began selling their Italian-style gelato made with locally sourced ingredients at farmers’ markets before opening their first shop in Bend.

Today, Bonta operates four Bend locations and one in Redmond, offering rotating seasonal flavors.

Their gelato is also available at local grocery stores, including Albertsons, Market of Choice, Newport Avenue Market, and the Sunriver Country Store.

Cloud City Ice Cream landed at No. 85 on the national list.

Owner Bryan Paul Gilbert opened the shop in 2011 as a tribute to his late mother, fulfilling their shared dream of starting a business together.

The shop features more than 30 handmade flavors crafted from locally sourced ingredients. Fan favorites include Sea Salt Cookie Dough, Vegan Mango Tajín, Lemon Black Pepper Marionberry Jam, and Truffle Shuffle.

#89 Hurry Back Ice Cream — Portland

Hurry Back Ice Cream appeared at N0. 89 operates out of a cheerful Portland food truck run by owner Julie Nelson.

Since 2015, the shop has served old-fashioned, homemade ice cream with both dairy and dairy-free options, using ingredients sourced from local dairies.

The menu rotates among more than 60 flavors, from Madagascar Vanilla and Ghirardelli Chocolate to Banana Cream Pie, Lemon Poppy Seed, and Cinnamon Roll.
